Customer had a leak in one of their oil transformer units. They could not replace the flange without emptying the oil in the transformer which would result in a prolonged shut down.
The customer had two units in this location that they use to power the western side of the city. They could not have this transformer unit grounded and off for long in case any problems arose with the other unit. Time was the essence for this repair.
The oil was lowered a bit and then the surface was de-greased and abraded to create a rough surface. Belzona 1161 was mixed and applied around the bolts and the flange. Then Belzona 5831LT was applied to seal the entire surface.
The next morning, an inspection involving applying pressure to the system, resulted in observing a few areas that needed to be reinforced. Packing the whole area with Belzona 4141 and applying Belzona 5831LT encapsulated the entire area. The system was tested again, and no leaks were found.
The customer has used Belzona multiple times for such repairs. They are very pleased with not only the performance of our products, but also the support we offer them onsite training their staff and making sure they are comfortable applying our products. We followed up on the repair one month later and the system is operating without leaks
