The customer burns non-recyclables and re-use the energy from the combustion. The ash left from burning comes down the chutes wearing holes due to sliding abrasion specifically on the elbows and joints where the ash has more contact.
All the chutes are very thin and near impossible to weld where holes had appeared so the customer liked the idea of Belzona 1983 SuperWrap II which would repair and seal the holes. It would also provide strength to the thin through wall and give some wall strength to the worn away sections.
The substrate was bristle blasted to provide the required substrate key profile. The termination points were taped out and Belzona 1983 SuperWrap II was applied 50/50 to increase strength to specified standard. A consolidator sheet was applied until application had cured
The customer was delighted with the solution and is having all the chutes replaced in a June shutdown with Belzona SuperWrap II applied to give the new chutes some strength and longer durability.
